Shepherd Public Schools

On Friday, February 26, during a special meeting of the Shepherd Public School Board, Interim Superintendent McMillan submitted a resignation letter in order to stay in compliance with the current Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS).  By accepting his resignation and then rehiring Mr. McMillan, he is able to continue as interim superintendent and the district continues with business as usual while we seek a permanent superintendent this spring.

The board voted unanimously to accept the resignation letter and appointed Dr. Jan Amsterburg of the Gratiot-Isabella RESD as superintendent of record with the state. Once ORS receives verification of Mr. McMillan’s resignation early next week, he will then be rehired by the district and will no longer jeopardize his retirement while serving as Shepherd Public Schools interim superintendent.
