Affirmations. This is something that I have been wanting to get started and Mrs. Goodspeed has done just that. For Avery Gregg: I appreciate your bright smile each morning and they way you are nice to others
BlueJays, here’s the plan for our pep rally today! During 5th Hour, you’ll report to class first. Leave your chromebooks and bags in your locker. Then, you’ll be released to the Middle School gym for a MS-only assembly. Once we are done, the band will swing by to lead us over to the HS gym, where we’ll join the Shepherd High School Homecoming Pep Assembly.
6th graders—think of it as a much bigger version of the assemblies you remember! And this year, we are going to bring the energy and do even better with our battle cries.
Since we won’t get a regular launch today, here it is: Homecoming is always a fun and exciting time. It’s on all of us to keep that spirit going in a positive and safe way. Tonight’s football game will be packed, and our community will be here in full force. Let’s make sure we show them—and each other—what it means to be R.E.A.L.: Respectful, Engaged, Accountable Leaders.
Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.”

NA Students: Mike, from Behavioral Health, will be here today during your lunch. Grab your food and come down to the NA Office.
BlueJays, today is Battle of the Ages! We have babies, the elderly and everyone in between.
Tomorrow is Blue & Gold Day. So show your school spirit! Before school and during lunch, Student Council will be selling Bahuna and BlueJay Homecoming stickers. Be sure to grab one and get ready for a big finish to Homecoming week!
Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.”

BlueJays, today we are Rhyming Without a Reason—whether you’re a cat in a hat, a spoon with a raccoon, or just rocking your own goofy rhyme, thanks for bringing the fun and creativity!
And don’t forget—tomorrow is the Battle of the Ages! Sixth graders, you’re the babies of the bunch. Seventh graders, you’ve joined the workforce as adults. Eighth graders, somehow you got old overnight—you’re now in your elderly stage of life. And staff… well, we’re dressing as you!
Let’s keep the spirit high, the outfits silly, and remember to be R.E.A.L.—Respectful, Engaged, Accountable Leaders—through it all
Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.”
BlueJays, today is Orange Shirt Day. This day began in Canada to honor the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential schools. At those schools, many children were not allowed to speak their language or practice their culture, and sadly, many never came home. Orange Shirt Day reminds us that every child matters—their voice, their culture, and their future. When we wear orange, we show respect and commit to building a community where all people are valued and included. Let’s live our R.E.A.L. expectations by showing respect, kindness, and leadership today.
BlueJays, tomorrow is Rhyme Without a Reason Day! Honestly, it’s a tad silly. I’m not totally sure what it means either. But here’s the idea: you can dress up as something that rhymes, either by yourself or with a friend, even if it doesn’t make sense together. Think Dr. Seuss-style fun—like
Fox socks
Cat hat
Duck Truck
Mouse House
Bear Chair
Book Cook
Bee Ski
Get creative, keep it school-appropriate, while showing off your rhyming style!
”Remember to be R.E.A.L.—Respectful, Engaged, Accountable Leaders. Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.”

Bluejays, yesterday’s presentation was heavy. It reminded us how important it is to care for each other, to listen to each other and to never assume that you know someone’s story.
Today in your SOAR class, you’ll find B4 bracelets. You don’t have to take one, but if you do, wear it. And if someone asks about it, you are going to share Brady’s story and the message that the world is better with you all in it. Lets Be R.E.A.L. every day. And every day we are glad you are here.
The B4 Foundation’s message is simple yet vital:
“It’s okay to not be okay, and no one should be ashamed of mental health struggles. B4 you give up hope, B4 you hurt yourself and those who love you, B4 you make a mistake you can’t undo, please reach out and ask for help. The world is better with you in it.”
We know today’s presentation was heavy and may bring up strong emotions. Please take a moment to check in with your child, listen to their thoughts, and remind them that support is always available—at home, at school, and in the community.

As we gather in the auditorium, remember to be R.E.A.L.:
Respectful — give your full attention to the speakers and those around you.
Engaged — listen closely and think about how you connect with the message
Accountable — represent yourself, your class, and our school in a positive way.
Leaders — set the example for others by showing kindness and maturity.

If you have a later practice or game, you must be under supervision of a coach or staff or you will need to leave and come back when your coach is here.
BlueJays, “One kind word can change someone’s entire day.” If a friend is struggling or even celebrating, your kindness — whether it’s quiet support or steady encouragement — shows Respect and makes you a true Leader. Let’s make today that kind of day.
Remember to be R.E.A.L.—Respectful, Engaged, Accountable Leaders. Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.”

Today we honor Constitution Day, the day in 1787 when our nation’s Constitution was signed in Philadelphia. At the end of the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” He replied, “A republic, if you can keep it.”
That answer is just as important today. The Constitution isn’t just words on paper—it’s an idea that only lives if we the people uphold it. President Gerald Ford from the state of Michigan once said, “Our Constitution works; our great Republic is a government of laws and not of men.” That means no single person or group gets to rule over all of us—the people hold the power.
The Constitution depends on us to keep it alive. By learning, questioning, speaking up, and treating each other with respect, we protect the freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, the balance of power among the branches of government, and the rule of law that applies to everyone.
It all begins with the words:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…”
Today, let’s remember: the Constitution isn’t something far away in Washington—it’s ours. And it’s up to us to keep it.
And BlueJays, lets have a great day by remembering to be R.E.A.L.—Respectful, Engaged, Accountable Leaders. Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.

Today is September 12th. While yesterday we remembered the tragic events of September 11, today we focus on what came the day after. On September 12, 2001, people all across the United States came together—neighbors helped neighbors, strangers supported one another, and communities showed strength through kindness and unity. It was a reminder that even in the most difficult, unpredictable and scary of times, empathy and compassion can shine through.
Let’s carry that same spirit today by celebrating kindness. Say “Thank you” or “I appreciate you” to someone who made your week better. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Ok BlueJays Wherever you are, remember R.E.A.L.—Respectful, Engaged, Accountable Leaders. Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.”
