BlueJays, we’ve got TWO SOAR contests happening right now!
First up: Coins for a Cause!
November is National Homelessness Awareness Month, and we’re teaming up with the United Way to support the Isabella County Restoration House.
If you’ve got loose change at home, bring it to your SOAR class through Tuesday, November 24. Every coin helps make a difference for families in our community—let’s see how much we can raise!
Next: Hoops for Hunger!
This food drive runs until December 19th, and every item you bring helps fight hunger right here in Isabella County.
You can donate:
Non-perishable food: canned fruits & veggies, soups, cereal, boxed meals, condiments
Household & hygiene items: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, paper products, diapers
And remember: $1 = 9 pounds of food!
The SOAR class in each grade with the most total pounds collected earns a trip to the Hoops for Hunger basketball game on January 7th!
Rally Day is coming up on Tuesday the 24th, remember that everyone attends, but here’s an important reminder about how you qualify.
Your eligibility is based on Attendance, Academics, and Attitude. But here’s the key part:
👉 If you earned a detention for tardies, those tardy detentions do NOT count against your Attitude score.
Students, yesterday, I sent you an email about your Trimester 2 schedule. Please make sure you read through that email and check your schedule.
A quick reminder about Respect and Accountability:
Students, the time between classes is when you should be taking care of your personal needs. Being Respectful means valuing ourselves and others — and that includes respecting your teachers’ time by being prepared and ready to learn when class begins.
If you run out of water during class, you can almost always wait until the next passing time to refill. Taking care of these things ahead of time helps keep the class running smoothly and shows Respect and Accountability.
Celebrate the successes of others — their win is your win, too. When someone around you does something great, lift them up. That’s what REAL Blue Jays do. Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.”

First up: Coins for a Cause!
November is National Homelessness Awareness Month, and we’re teaming up with the United Way to support the Isabella County Restoration House.
If you’ve got loose change at home, bring it to your SOAR class for the next 6 days through Tuesday, November 24. Every coin helps make a difference for families in our community—let’s see how much we can raise!

If you have questions, just ask a WEB member or someone from the Leadership Class.
BlueJays, you are able to look at your next Tri schedule in PowerSchool and might want to see if you can change it. This week will be the best week to try, if your reasons are appropriate
Appropriate reasons to request a schedule change:
You have two of the same class.
You are missing a core class (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies).
You would like to see if there is a different elective option available.
Not appropriate reasons to request a schedule change:
Wanting to have the same schedule as a friend.
Wanting to have a different lunch.
Wanting to switch out of a year-long class—remember, if you signed up for Choir or Band, you committed for the full year.
Lift up your teammates with kind words and encouragement — your words matter more than you know.
Positive attitudes are contagious, so bring your best energy today and help set the tone for a great week.
REAL BlueJays model respect and kindness in every space, whether it’s the hallway, the cafeteria, or the classroom. Be R.E.A.L. every day. And always know, we’re glad you’re here.

SMS Announcements:
Next Week, Tuesday November 11th is Veteran's Day. Shepherd Middle School and High School will be putting on our annual Veteran's Day Assembly. All veterans are welcome to attend, so if you have a family member or friend you'd like to come to, please see Mr. TerBurgh in room 315 for an invitation. We hope to see your veterans there and I'll guarantee they will appreciate the invitation from you!
There is a parent/informational meeting for competitive cheer for middle school girls on Monday at 5:30 in the cafeteria. Anyone who is interested should come and get more information.
Congratulations to the Middle School Musical Cast and Crew on your performance of Kokonut Island yesterday! You all did the hardest part, performing in front of your peers, and you absolutely rocked it. With all that energy and confidence, tonight and tomorrow’s shows will be a walk in the park.
After School Reminder:Unless you have a practice, game, or another event happening right after school—or you’re under direct staff supervision—you must leave the building by 3:15 p.m. If your event starts later, you can return at the appropriate time.
Take a moment to think back on your week. What’s something you did to contribute to your team? Maybe you helped a classmate, stayed positive during group work, or encouraged a friend. Every small act of teamwork helps make our school stronger and shows what it means to be a R.E.A.L. BlueJay — Respectful, Engaged, Accountable, and a Leader.
