The JV football team had a thrilling game last night against Harrison. They were down 20-7 at halftime but the 2nd half was a different story as the Bluejays marched down the field and scored 28 unanswered points to win the game 35-20. Great job guys!

The high school cross country meet that was canceled today (Wednesday) will be made up tomorrow (Thursday) at Beaverton at the regularly scheduled time. The October 16th meet will now be held here in Shepherd.

I cannot ever fully express in words the appreciation for every person I have encountered during my time here at Shepherd High School. The Shepherd boys 4x400 relay team of Ross McNeel, Dane Nestle, Ben Moeggenberg, and Dylan Fisher ran an an amazing time of 3:28.34 last night at the home Bluejay Invite to break the 49 year old record of 3:29.6. The previous record was set in 1970 by a team of Rick Bunker, Lon Bohannon, Mickey Feltman and Doug White.

SHS had an excellent presentation this afternoon. The Community Mental Health for Central Michigan provided our students with an opportunity to hear suicide prevention and mental health awareness speaker, Will Heininger. If you are unfamiliar with Will, he is a former University of Michigan student and football player who discovered, during his time at U of M, that he was suffering from depression. He was able to get the help he needed and compete all fours years on the football team, thanks to the support of his family, counselors and coaching staff. Will has since returned to his alma mater as a Program Coordinator in their Depression Center.

The varsity golf team had a good night with three PRs and a team 162. Max Skeel shot an impressive 4-under-par 31 to stretch his individual conference lead. Zach Bendele shot a 40, Spencer Myers a PR 45, and Owen Morey a PR 46. This stretches the conference lead to 22 strokes.
